Each year, we serve over 4,000 individuals in Boston and Lowell, Massachusetts, and Manchester, New Hampshire, offering a wide range of programs, including case management, youth and family services, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), employment and skills training, and immigration legal services.

Job Overview: AmeriCorps Technology Empowerment Coach

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate AmeriCorps Technology Empowerment Coach to join our team in Manchester, New Hampshire. As a Technology Empowerment Coach, you will play a vital role in bridging the digital divide for newly arrived refugees and immigrants, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to fully participate in New Hampshire's economy and contribute to the state's growth and prosperity. Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the social and economic integration of immigrants and refugees in the Manchester, Concord, and Nashua areas through digital literacy training and community outreach.
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring and office hours on computer basics and navigating community resources online, tailoring your approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Create, adapt, and tailor curricula on scaffolded computer basic skills to teach to clients in small group settings, ensuring that your instruction is engaging, effective, and culturally sensitive.
  • Establish service plans for refugee and immigrant participants with measurable and obtainable one-year goals that align with the Digital Intelligence Institute's Digital Literacy Skills and Digital Readiness Standards.
  • Utilize Northstar Digital services to plan and carry out lesson plans for clients and community learners, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices in digital literacy education.
  • Collaborate with community partners to coordinate trainings and orientations, fostering strong relationships and leveraging resources to maximize impact.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; experience in a multi-cultural/multi-lingual workplace is highly desirable.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a passion for the mission of IINE, with a commitment to providing exceptional service to our clients.
  • Excellent problem-solving, operational, and communication skills, with the ability to connect with community partners and demonstrate cultural competency.
  • Proactive attitude, sense of humor, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching or training in any capacity, with a background in education, computer science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with digital literacy curricula and online resources, with the ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans.
  • Knowledge of refugee and immigrant communities, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities they face in navigating the digital landscape.
  • Fluency in multiple languages, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and community partners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and software applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, community partners, and colleagues.
