About the position The File Maintenance Clerk at Safeway is responsible for ensuring accurate pricing, itemization, tagging, and documentation of merchandise in the store. This role involves operating computers to maintain records, researching and correcting scanning issues, and supporting customer service initiatives to enhance the shopping experience. Responsibilities ? Champion customer service programs to meet or exceed Division goals. , ? Maintain accurate pricing and documentation for all merchandise. , ? Organize timely and accurate price changes and sort tags by department. , ? Research and correct issues related to missing or damaged tags and discontinued items. , ? Conduct scanning audits and correct discrepancies for new items. , ? Justify entries on the Exception Report and review the Duplicate Report for corrections. , ? Monitor UPC codes that are not on file or hard to scan. , ? Perform monthly checks of Produce Shelf pricing and PLU's. , ? Implement proper scan give-away procedures and maintain price accuracy guarantee signs. , ? Maintain point-of-sale equipment and implement emergency procedures as needed. , ? Back up computerized returned check files and maintain a current UPC/PLU backup file. , ? Operate related equipment including scan audit devices and check stand equipment. , ? Occasionally perform checking, stocking, and training duties. , ? Stack, price, mark, face, and rotate merchandise to prevent shrink and spoilage. , ? Ensure a clean and safe work environment. Requirements ? Ability to provide friendly and courteous customer service. , ? Good oral and written communication skills. , ? Strong organizational skills and dependability. , ? Ability to implement emergency procedures for equipment and software malfunctions. , ? Mental alertness and attention to detail for accurate work completion. , ? Flexibility to learn and adjust to frequent equipment and software changes. , ? Basic mathematics skills for pricing and documentation tasks. , ? Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and reaching. , ? Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination. Nice-to-haves ?
