About the position The Accounting Technician (Accounts Payable) position is located within the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service, Division of Accounting Services. The role involves performing various technician duties related to the Unified Financial Management System (UFMS) Accounts Payable module, supporting hospitals, clinics, and administrative departments. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing, processing, and reconciling accounts payable invoices and claims, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy in financial transactions. Responsibilities • Review, examine, and process accounts payable invoices, claims, and payment requests. , • Ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations and authorizing documents. , • Obtain clarification from vendors or applicable Service Units for questionable claims. , • Perform data entry of accounts payable invoices and payment requests into UFMS. , • Reconcile AP accounts with service unit staff and vendors using UFMS reporting system. , • Prepare reconciling worksheets or reports reflecting examinations made and discrepancies noted. Requirements • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 level in Federal service, or 4 years of education above high school, or a combination of education and experience. , • Experience utilizing accounting software to record, store, and analyze information. , • Ability to check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry and accuracy. , • Knowledge of federal, state, and agency policies, procedures, and regulations. , • Experience reconciling and reporting discrepancies found in records. Nice-to-haves • Experience in a healthcare accounting environment. , • Familiarity with the Indian Health Service regulations and policies.
