About arenaflex and the Opportunity

arenaflex is a leading provider of healthcare staffing solutions, dedicated to connecting skilled professionals with forward‑thinking medical organizations across the United States. Our Texas‑based client, a respected health‑service provider, is expanding its billing and data entry team to support a growing Medicaid patient population. This role offers a unique blend of remote flexibility, hands‑on experience with industry‑standard electronic health record (EHR) platforms, and the chance to become a valued member of a collaborative, high‑performing team.

As a Billing Clerk/Data Entry Specialist you will play a critical part in ensuring accurate claim submission, timely reimbursement, and compliance with HIPAA regulations. The position starts as a five‑month contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate. If you thrive in a detail‑oriented environment, enjoy teamwork, and have a solid foundation in medical billing, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Core Billing Functions

  • Enter and process medical claims accurately using the client’s billing software and EHR system.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and service details before claim submission.
  • Monitor payer portals to track claim status, identify denials, and initiate appropriate follow‑up actions.
  • Resubmit rejected or incomplete claims in accordance with payer guidelines and internal SOPs.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all billing activities to support audit readiness and reporting requirements.

Data Entry & Quality Assurance

  • Perform high‑volume data entry with a focus on precision and speed, ensuring that every entry aligns with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct routine audits of entered data to detect and correct discrepancies before they affect claim outcomes.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to obtain missing documentation, clarify ambiguous entries, and resolve billing questions.
  • Adhere strictly to HIPAA privacy rules when handling patient records, releasing information only to authorized parties.

Team Collaboration & Support

  • Assist teammates with complex claim issues, sharing knowledge of Medicaid processes and payer nuances.
  • Participate in weekly virtual huddles and quarterly in‑person meetings in McKinney to align on goals and share best practices.
  • Contribute to team targets by meeting daily and weekly productivity benchmarks while maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders, demonstrating a proactive, solution‑focused attitude.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands‑on experience in medical billing, with a strong emphasis on Medicaid claim processing.
  • Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., AdvancedMD, Kareo, or similar) and electronic health record (EHR) platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate payer portals, interpret claim denials, and execute corrective actions.
  • High school diploma or GED; additional certifications such as Certified Billing Specialist (CBS) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) are a plus.
  • Excellent references from previous employers that attest to reliability, accuracy, and teamwork.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of insurance claim submission processes, including familiarity with payer‑specific guidelines and Medicaid regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a proven track record of error‑free data entry in fast‑paced environments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear interaction with providers, insurers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving workflow demands.
  • Basic computer literacy beyond billing software—comfort with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for reporting purposes.
  • Team‑oriented mindset, willingness to assist colleagues, and a commitment to collective success.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

arenaflex and its client recognize the value of skilled billing professionals and offer a competitive compensation package:

  • Hourly rate of $19.00, with potential for performance‑based increases after the contract period.
  • Fully supplied remote work equipment, including a laptop, headset, and secure VPN access.
  • Flexible schedule: standard Monday‑Friday, 9 am‑6 pm CST, with additional flexibility after the initial training phase.
  • Business‑casual dress code for virtual meetings, promoting a professional yet comfortable work environment.
