[Remote] Account Manager - Service Center
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Aperam is a global leader in stainless, electrical, and specialty steels, serving customers in over 40 countries. The Account Manager will manage and grow established accounts while pursuing new business opportunities, developing sales strategies, and negotiating contracts to maximize revenue.
Responsibilities
- Drive Spot Market Revenue: Execute fast-paced spot transactions by quoting real-time pricing for custom-slit stainless steel and cut-to-length sheets based on daily market volatility and available inventory
- Manage Key Accounts: Act as the primary point of contact for large OEMs, managing long-term objectives, customer usage metrics, and daily finished product shipments
- Sales Pipeline: Maintain an active sales pipeline, forecast business opportunities, and achieve or exceed sales targets
- New Markets: Identify creative and strategic ways to penetrate new markets, move inventory, and increase market share
- Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial agreements to maximize revenue and margin
- Resolve "Line-Down" Shortages: Partner with prospective and existing clients to step in with quick-ship slitting and precision cutting solutions to cover urgent manufacturing shortfalls
- Liaise Internally & Externally: Bridge the gap between automotive stampers and our internal processing and logistics teams to ensure exact slit widths, sheet tolerances, gauges, and mill finishes match strict client specifications
- Forecast & Track: Utilize data to track key account metrics, evaluate customer usage, and communicate monthly/quarterly progress to executive stakeholders
Skills
- Proven success as a sales hunter with a track record of generating new business and closing deals
- Direct experience selling stainless steel products is required
- Strong understanding of stainless steel processing, slitting, sheet products, and service center operations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to think strategically, identify new opportunities, and create innovative sales solutions
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel up to 60%
- Established relationships within automotive, appliance, manufacturing, fabrication, or metals markets are highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Relevant stainless steel industry sales experience will be given strong consideration
