[Remote] Lead Java AI Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. EPAM Systems is seeking a seasoned Lead Java AI Engineer to join their collaborative team. The role involves leading the development of an innovative AI marketplace platform, focusing on backend development and occasional front-end contributions while ensuring seamless integration between systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical development and architecture of the AI marketplace platform
- Partner with the front-end developer to ensure a seamless integration between backend and frontend systems
- Evaluate and decide on key technologies and architectural approaches, aligning them with project goals and defending choices to management
- Collaborate with the team to solve complex software challenges with flexibility and creativity
- Rapidly iterate on ideas and evolve the product based on feedback and needs
- Handle simple front-end development tasks to support agile delivery
- Design, build, and deploy AI-enabled solutions using Java technologies
- Lead the implementation of business-critical features powered by AI
- Contribute to all phases of the AI Software Development Life Cycle, including solution design, prompt engineering, model integration, evaluation, monitoring, deployment, and continuous improvement
- Stay updated on the latest trends in Java and AI technologies
Skills
- 5+ years of experience in backend development with Kotlin or Java
- Proven experience implementing the AI Software Development Life Cycle with a maturity level of 2.5+
- At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience
- Expertise in ReactJS and TypeScript to support full stack development needs
- Strong background in building scalable, maintainable software platforms
- Proficiency in working independently in a lead role while collaborating effectively in a small team environment
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders
- Qualifications in solution design, prompt engineering, and model integration
- Familiarity with the evaluation, monitoring, deployment, and continuous improvement of AI solutions
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)
- Understanding of Gen AI-assisted development tools and workflows
