As a remote‑first organization, arenaflex empowers its employees to work from anywhere in the United States while staying deeply connected to the company’s core values of integrity, empathy, and relentless curiosity.

Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking an experienced Information Specialist II to join our data engineering team based in Ranch, Florida (remote‑eligible). In this role you will partner with cross‑functional product groups to design, build, and maintain sophisticated Splunk dashboards, alerts, and data pipelines that enable real‑time visibility into business‑critical metrics. You will act as a subject‑matter expert on Splunk best practices, mentor junior team members, and drive innovative solutions that enhance data reliability, performance, and scalability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high‑quality Splunk content—including searches, dashboards, alerts, and reports—that meet the needs of internal stakeholders while adhering to standards for performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot complex Splunk issues using deep knowledge of SPL, data modeling, and dashboarding to resolve performance bottlenecks, indexing problems, and search errors.
  • Integrate Splunk with external applications and services (e.g., REST APIs, AWS, Ansible) to ingest, enrich, and visualize data from a variety of sources.
  • Lead knowledge‑sharing initiatives by training the broader arenaflex community on Splunk search, alerting, and dashboard best practices, fostering a culture of data literacy.
  • Provide day‑to‑day operational support for the Splunk environment, including monitoring health, handling incidents, and ensuring high availability.
  • Perform data analysis, enrichment, and transformation—creating and maintaining field extractions, event types, tags, and macros that improve data quality and searchability.
  • Develop and maintain data models that accelerate reporting and enable self‑service analytics for business users.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to design data collection strategies that support large‑scale logging platforms and compliance requirements.
  • Automate deployment and configuration of Splunk apps and add‑ons using Ansible, Git, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure consistent environments across development, staging, and production.
  • Mentor junior analysts and engineers, providing guidance on Splunk architecture, data onboarding, and best‑practice development.
  • Participate in the Worker Referral Program, helping attract top talent to arenaflex’s growing data team.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience building advanced Splunk dashboards, searches, and alerts in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, JavaScript, or similar) for data manipulation and automation.
  • Strong understanding of Splunk’s XML architecture, data models, and search language (SPL).
  • Experience creating and maintaining field extractions, event types, tags, and macros.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement dashboards using Splunk Dashboard Studio.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible and version control systems like Git.
  • Solid grasp of web architecture concepts (HTTP, RESTful APIs, JSON) and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Proven track record of collaborating with cross‑functional application teams to deliver data‑driven solutions.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex Splunk performance and indexing issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Eligibility to work remotely from any U.S. location, with a reliable internet connection and a suitable home office setup.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Experience with Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) or IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) modules.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their integration with Splunk.
  • Background in data engineering or data science, including familiarity with SQL, NoSQL, and big‑data ecosystems.
  • Certification such as Splunk Certified Power User, Splunk Certified Admin, or Splunk Certified Architect.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) for automated Splunk app deployment.
  • Understanding of security and compliance frameworks (PCI‑DSS, GDPR) as they relate to log data handling.
  • Experience mentoring or leading a small team of analysts or engineers.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to dissect large data sets, identify patterns, and propose actionable insights.
  • Technical curiosity: Eagerness to stay current with emerging Splunk features, cloud services, and data‑visualization trends.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork orientation, comfortable working with product managers, developers, and security specialists.
  • Communication: Clear, concise documentation and presentation skills for both technical and business audiences.
  • Self‑management: Proven ability to thrive in a remote environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines independently.
  • Customer‑centric focus: Commitment to delivering solutions that directly improve arenaflex’s customer experience and operational efficiency.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its employees. As an Information Specialist II you will have access to:

  • Annual training budgets for certifications, conferences (e.g., Splunk .conf, AWS re:Invent), and online courses.
  • Mentorship programs pairing you with senior data architects and product leaders.
  • Opportunities to lead high‑visibility projects that influence company‑wide data strategy.
  • Cross‑departmental rotations that broaden your expertise in product, engineering, and security domains.
  • Clear promotion pathways—from Specialist II to Senior Specialist, Data Engineer, and eventually Data Architecture leadership roles.
