Position: Senior Data Manager Clinical Research Department: Research Support Services Location: Boston, MA Schedule: 40 hours per week, Remote POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Data Manager, Clinical Research works collaboratively with clinical research leadership to develop high-quality research data sets and reports using the Clinical Data Warehouse (CDW), while supporting operational and scientific process improvements. This role is responsible for meeting the data needs of research programs/projects ranging from study samples to population-level solutions; guiding researchers in developing sound and specific data requests; streamlining processes for supplying patient lists and contact information; developing recurring reports using modern data solutions such as Microsoft Fabric; supporting preliminary analyses and sample size estimates for grant applications; and standardizing data from multiple CDW source systems. The position also leads and participates in quality improvement and data optimization initiatives, develops innovative/cost-effective strategies to leverage clinical data in support of institutional research goals, collaborates with faculty and hospital research leadership to improve the efficiency, reliability, and accuracy of clinical data processes, and ensures projects are appropriately tracked and billed. Retrieves, manages, and presents data from the CDW and other clinical data sources in a usable format for stakeholders across the Health System, while ensuring compliance with IRB and hospital data policies. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with research leadership to identify available data resources and determine the most efficient reporting mechanisms to support research and operational initiatives. Partner with clinical leadership to understand data requirements and translate business and research needs into actionable data solutions. Develop and maintain expertise in Epic Clarity and Caboodle data models and related clinical data systems. Translate data requirements into SQL queries and present data in formats that support effective analysis and decision-making by leadership and stakeholders. Create formal written documentation for dataset construction processes, including definitions and specifications for key data elements. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure data reliability, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards. Manage and enforce applicable data access restrictions, access controls, and data warehouse security policies to ensure compliance with IRB and hospital requirements. Develop and maintain data marts and related data structures to support research, reporting, and operational projects across the Health System. Maintain data logs and audit documentation while collaborating with research leadership to improve administrative and scientific reporting processes and identify innovative uses of clinical data to advance organizational initiatives. JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required. This includes: Minimum of 2 years of experience planning and implementing solutions in healthcare, technology, financial systems, or clinical systems environments, including conducting research using administrative datasets and SQL programming. Minimum of 2 years of experience in process development and system-level improvement, including participating in or leading workflow improvement initiatives, developing data use or governance processes and policies, supervising teams, or collaborating with scientific oversight committees to enhance data-related processes. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in applied biostatistics, applied math, computer science, computer/electrical engineering, systems improvement, or information science KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs): Ability to manage and complete IT projects successfully and implement solutions within a dynamic, highly integrated organization. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with staff at all levels of the organization. Strong analytical, creative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of healthcare, clinical, financial, or technology systems and related data environments. Proficiency in SQL programming and working with administrative datasets for research and reporting purposes. Ability to support process development, workflow improvement, and systems-level initiatives related to data use and governance. Compensation

Range: $89,500.00- $130,000.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
