About arenaflex – Pioneering the Future of Aviation from Anywhere

arenaflex is a global leader in aviation, delivering seamless travel experiences to millions of passengers every day. With a commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability, arenaflex continuously invests in cutting‑edge technology to keep its digital ecosystem fast, reliable, and secure. As part of its strategic expansion, arenaflex is building a distributed, high‑performance cloud team that works entirely remotely. This is your chance to join a forward‑thinking organization that values flexibility, diversity, and continuous learning—all while you work from the comfort of your home office.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s hyper‑connected world, the airline industry relies on robust cloud infrastructure and modern web applications to manage bookings, flight operations, customer interactions, and data analytics. As a Remote AWS Cloud & Full‑Stack Web Developer, you will be at the heart of arenaflex’s digital transformation, designing, building, and maintaining mission‑critical services that power the airline’s online presence and internal tools. Your work will directly impact the reliability of flight schedules, the speed of customer service portals, and the overall passenger experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable web applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and CloudFront.
  • Collaborate with product owners, UX designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and functional software.
  • Build and maintain micro‑service architectures, ensuring fault‑tolerance, high availability, and optimal performance.
  • Write clean, testable, and well‑documented code in modern web frameworks (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Django) and front‑end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React or Vue).
  • Develop proof‑of‑concept (PoC) and minimum viable product (MVP) prototypes to validate new architectural approaches and technology choices.
  • Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using industry‑standard tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline) to accelerate delivery cycles.
  • Utilize containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) to streamline deployment and scaling of services.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents, applying root‑cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for architecture, APIs, and operational procedures.
  • Stay current with emerging AWS services, cloud‑native patterns, and best practices, sharing knowledge with the broader team.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, retrospectives) and help drive iterative delivery.

Essential Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)

  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience developing full‑stack web applications and deploying them on AWS. Strong command of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one server‑side framework (Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or Django).
  • Cloud Proficiency: Hands‑on experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront) and a solid understanding of networking, security groups, IAM, and cost optimization.
  • Container & Orchestration: Practical knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for building, packaging, and scaling applications.
  • Database Skills: Experience designing relational schemas, writing efficient SQL queries, and working with both MySQL/PostgreSQL and NoSQL options.
  • Operating Systems: Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments, including command‑line tools and shell scripting.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Problem‑Solving Ability: Strong analytical mindset with a track record of debugging complex systems and delivering robust solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of collaborating across distributed teams and presenting technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Agile Mindset: Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, iterative environments while maintaining a focus on quality and security.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States and a minimum age of 18.

Preferred Qualifications (Competitive Edge)

  • Previous experience in the airline or travel industry, understanding of reservation systems, flight operations, or passenger service workflows.
  • Familiarity with additional AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, and Step Functions.
  • Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) to automate environment provisioning.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices, including automated security scanning and compliance enforcement.
  • Certification(s) such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead small technical initiatives.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Programming Languages: JavaScript/TypeScript, Ruby, Python, or Go.
  • Frameworks & Libraries: React, Vue, Angular, Express, Rails, Django.
