Join our Selectchemie Business Development team We offer a broad product portfolio of APIs & excipients and are an established hub for customers sourcing high-quality bulk raw material as well as for renowned manufacturers who benefit from our broad customer base in various markets. We are continuously expanding our global network as well as our services. We are looking for an experienced professional to lead our Business Development Team. The Head of Business Development (BD) will drive growth across Selectchemie’s full portfolio, including pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs and excipients) and finished dosage forms (FDFs). This role is responsible for defining and executing BD strategy, securing new business opportunities, and ensuring a cohesive, high-performing BD organization. The Head of BD will manage the heads of Portfolio & Market Intelligence, Project Management, and Head of In-Licensing. Aufgaben Strategy & Growth Define and execute a global BD strategy across Pharma Ingredients and FDFs including in-licensing and out-licensing. Identify and evaluate new markets, therapeutic areas, and product opportunities. Ensure monetization of existing portfolio through out-licensing, client partnerships, and strategic collaborations. Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies to inform portfolio and business decisions. Drive innovation in business development approaches, licensing, sourcing partnerships, and commercial collaborations. Portfolio & Opportunity Management Oversee the Market Intelligence and Portfolio functions to ensure high-quality opportunity scouting and project evaluation. Ensure systematic prioritization and pipeline management of FDF and ingredients opportunities. Align internal resources to maximize success of BD initiatives, from in-licensing to project execution. Team Leadership & Development Lead and mentor heads of Market Intelligence & Portfolio, Project Management, BD/In-Licensing, and Regulatory Planning roles. Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and growth-oriented team culture. Set team KPIs, performance targets, and development plans. Partnerships & Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with licensors, suppliers, CDMOs, clients, and strategic partners across all business areas. Oversee negotiation of licensing agreements, supply contracts, co-development partnerships, and strategic collaborations. Represent Selectchemie externally at conferences, industry events, and client meetings. Commercial & Operational Oversight Ensure the smooth handover of approved opportunities to Project Management and Operations. Monitor project performance, pipeline progression, and ROI for BD initiatives. Support cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of BD activities with company goals. Qualifikation Must haves: Degree in scientific or technical field (such as chemistry, biology, biochemistry, pharmacy or similar orientation enabling understanding of pharmaceutical ingredients and manufacturing). 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical business development, in-licensing/out-licensing, or strategic sourcing. Demonstrated experience leading BD teams, preferably in both ingredients and FDFs. Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and market insight. Excellent strategic thinking, analytical capabilities, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Track record of building or scaling BD functions in a lean, growth-oriented environment. Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cultures, with sensitivity and respect for diverse communication styles and business practices Fluent in English, other languages (e.g., German, Spanish, Mandarin) are a benefit Nice to have: Experience with ingredients in R&D and/or production Experience in generics, FDF, or CDMO partnerships is strongly preferred. Understanding of Finished Dosage Formulation (FDFs) Ability to bridge science and business
