PURPOSE Builders FirstSource (BFS) is executing a multi-year transformation (Project Elevate) to standardize core operations on SAP S/4HANA. This role serves as the end-to-end IT owner for Transportation Management (TM), delivering scalable, integrated solutions across the Integrated Supply Chain value streams. The Senior Manager / Manager is accountable for SAP TM strategy, delivery, and operational performance, ensuring alignment to the “BFS Way” (simple, standard, efficient processes) and seamless integration with adjacent capabilities including EWM, Order Fulfillment, Procurement, and carrier networks. This leader partners with business stakeholders and external delivery partners to drive high-quality solutions, strong adoption, and continuous improvement in transportation cost, service, and visibility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Functional Responsibilities Own end-to-end Transportation Management (TM) capability across Integrated Supply Chain value streams, ensuring alignment to the “BFS Way” (simple, standard, efficient processes). Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements and translate transportation needs into scalable system capabilities across planning, execution, settlement, and visibility. Lead TM delivery across Project Elevate releases and pilot deployments, ensuring successful execution across design, build, test, deployment, and stabilization. Own and prioritize the TM backlog, including enhancements, defects, and change requests, aligned to business priorities and operational outcomes. Guide SAP TM solution design and configuration across transportation planning, freight orders and units, rate management, costing, and transportation cockpit capabilities. Partner with cross-functional SAP teams, including MM, SD, PP, and EWM, to ensure seamless end-to-end process integration. Define and monitor key TM performance metrics, including freight cost, on-time delivery, load utilization, and carrier performance. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve transportation cost, service, visibility, and operational efficiency. Serve as the primary IT partner to transportation business stakeholders, supporting change adoption, user readiness, and ongoing process improvement. Technical Responsibilities Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with SAP best practices and clean core principles. Own TM integration strategy across SAP and external systems, including EWM, SD, carrier networks, and logistics platforms, and oversee integration solutions leveraging IDocs, BAPIs, APIs, web services, and middleware technologies such as PI/PO, CPI, and MuleSoft. Govern custom development, including ABAP enhancements, BADIs, and user exits. Define and enforce testing strategy (SIT, UAT), ensuring end-to-end scenario validation and business readiness. Oversee defect management and root cause resolution to support system stability and operational performance. Supervisory Responsibilities Lead and develop TM team members across onshore and offshore delivery, including resource planning, work assignment, coaching, and performance management. Provide direction on team priorities, capacity planning, and resource allocation across transformation initiatives and steady-state support. Manage and govern delivery from System Integrator (SI) and AMS partners, ensuring quality, timeliness, and adherence to solution and delivery standards. Establish and maintain governance cadence for status, risks, issue resolution, and performance metrics across internal and external teams. Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and business partnership. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 8+ years of SAP experience, with strong expertise in SAP Transportation Management (TM) Demonstrated experience leading SAP TM solutions across design, build, testing, deployment, and support Experience supporting large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation programs, including multi-phase releases or pilot deployments Strong functional knowledge of transportation operations, including planning, execution, settlement, carrier management, and shipment visibility Proven experience integrating SAP TM with SAP EWM, SD, MM, and external logistics or carrier platforms Hands-on experience with SAP TM configuration, Fiori applications, and debugging; working knowledge of ABAP enhancements preferred Experience with integration technologies such as IDocs, APIs, web services, and middleware platforms including CPI, PI/PO, or MuleSoft Experience defining and executing SIT and UAT strategies and supporting defect resolution across integrated solutions Experience managing System Integrator (SI) and AMS partners and holding vendors accountable for delivery quality and performance Strong understanding of transportation KPIs, including freight cost, service performance, carrier performance, and utilization Experience with transportation-related master data, including carriers, rates, lanes, zones, and agreements, preferred Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across business and IT organizations Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience COMPETENCIES Subject matter expert in Logistics (truck, rail, multi-modal), Transportation Planning, Fleet Management (own/lease) Experience with configuration of SAP S/4HANA Logistics & Transportation, and SAP Transportation Management Experience in project management, process design and metrics Excellent verbal and written communications skills Excellent presentation and facilitation skills Strong self-starter and self-directed worker Strong leadership and management skills, including driving results through people. In addition to the base wage listed, this position is also eligible to earn an annual bonus subject to changes in plan design and documents and in accordance with applicable law.
