In-House Interpreter (Legal & Medical) – South America (Remote)
Overview
We are seeking professional, full-time In-House Interpreters based in South America to join our growing team. This role combines both Legal and Medical Interpretation, supporting clients through Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) for legal matters and Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI) for medical assignments. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting complex and sensitive conversations with accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality. Interpreters will work directly with legal professionals, healthcare providers, patients, attorneys, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication across language barriers. This is a remote, full-time position for experienced interpreters who are passionate about delivering high-quality language services in fast-paced environments. Key Responsibilities
Legal Interpretation (Video Remote Interpreting) Provide accurate consecutive interpretation during legal proceedings, including: Depositions Attorney-client meetings Court-related matters Witness interviews Legal consultations Maintain neutrality and professional ethics at all times. Accurately convey legal terminology and context without omission or modification. Handle confidential and sensitive information in accordance with company and client requirements. Medical Interpretation (Over-the-Phone Interpreting) Facilitate communication between healthcare professionals and patients. Interpret medical consultations, appointments, assessments, and healthcare-related discussions. Accurately communicate medical terminology and treatment information. Ensure cultural and linguistic accuracy while maintaining professionalism and empathy. General Responsibilities Maintain exceptional interpretation quality and accuracy standards. Follow client-specific protocols and operational procedures. Attend training sessions and quality reviews as required. Meet productivity, attendance, and performance expectations. Maintain a professional remote working environment. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with applicable privacy regulations and company policies.
Requirements
Mandatory Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written). Professional interpretation experience in both: Legal Interpretation Medical Interpretation Experience with Video Remote Interpreting (VRI). Experience with Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI). Strong understanding of legal and medical terminology. Excellent listening, communication, and note-taking skills. Ability to remain impartial and professional in sensitive situations. Strong internet connection and dedicated home office setup. USB headset and professional working equipment. Preferred Interpreter certification or relevant language qualification. Experience supporting U.S.-based legal or healthcare clients. Previous experience in court proceedings, depositions, or healthcare environments. Familiarity with HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, and interpreter ethics. Experience working in a remote language services environment.
