Emergency Management Planner
THIS IS A TEMPORAY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Position Summary: At the direction of the Project Manager, or designee, the Emergency Management Planner assists in all project tasks in support of Tidal Basin’s Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA) development project for Martin County, FL. Candidates should have experience in THIRA development, State Preparedness Report development, as well as a general knowledge of emergency management plans and capabilities and hazard identification and risk assessment. Job Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Working with the local planning team to identify specific threats or hazards of concern, and describing impacts
- Working with the planning team to give the hazards and threats specific context, including context descriptions and specific impact numbers
- Working with the local planning team to estimate capability targets based on the results of the analysis
- Attending planning meetings with the client and providing support to develop pre- and post-meeting materials
- Working with the Tidal Basin PM and project team on the project, including attending internal meetings and functioning as part of a team
- Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed
- Complete required training including safety training Skills and Competencies:
- Emergency Management Plan writing experience with demonstratable proof
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment experience with demonstrable proof
- Experience working in a virtual environment, including collaborating with a virtual client and Tidal Basin project team
- Conducting and supporting webinars and conference calls through online tools and resources
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office and other technical programs needed to perform work Required Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of emergency management experience at a local or state government agency, with local or county emergency management experience preferred
- Experience in an Emergency Operations Center during an activation, either during an exercise or real-world incident
- At least one year of experience must be as an emergency management planner having supported the writing of emergency management plans
- Experience with THIRA development
- Associate’s or bachelor's degree in emergency management, Public Administration or related field is preferred but not required
- CEM preferred but not required This is a Part Time (PT) position, and all work will be accomplished remotely. The position is slated for approximately 10 hours per week, though this can fluctuate based on project needs.
