EHS Manager
EHS Manager Rittman, OH Competitive Pay & Benefits Position Summary The EHS Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs at a manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role develops, implements, and oversees site-specific safety, health, and environmental policies while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The EHS Manager partners closely with site leadership to minimize risk, support regulatory compliance, and drive workplace safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain site safety, health, and environmental programs and procedures. Train employees and site leadership on EHS policies, processes, and regulatory requirements. Provide guidance on OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory compliance requirements, including interpretation of standards such as ANSI, NFPA, and ASSE. Coordinate responses to regulatory agency inquiries, inspections, and enforcement actions. Review proposals, capital projects, and service agreements to identify and mitigate environmental, health, and safety risks. Assist in developing and updating safety and environmental policies, procedures, and documentation to align with legal and corporate standards. Ensure completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental and safety reporting requirements. Manage workers’ compensation claims and support return-to-work processes. Monitor and control emissions, including dust collection systems, and collaborate with operational leaders on reduction strategies. Prepare and present safety performance reports to site and corporate leadership. Support industrial hygiene programs by coordinating sampling requirements, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance. Conduct site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and internal standards. Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses (RCA) to prevent recurrence. Promote continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental, health, and safety performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field. 5–7 years of experience in environmental health and safety. 3–5 years of EHS management experience within a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance regulations. Experience developing and implementing safety programs and conducting training. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across all levels of an organization. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Experience in food manufacturing environments. Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems. #INDETM Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
