Summary

Step into a high-visibility leadership role where your actuarial expertise directly shapes pricing strategy and business performance across a multi-state Personal Lines portfolio. As a Manager on our Actuarial team, you will lead a talented group of analysts while driving strategic decisions for key markets including WA, ID, NH, ME, and VT. We're seeking a forward-thinking actuarial professional who combines strong technical skills, business acumen, and innovative problem-solving. In this role, you'll deliver impactful analyses aligned with Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) standards while influencing profitability, growth, and long-term strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Own the Market: Build and lead a high-performing team with deep expertise across assigned states
  • Develop a strong understanding of market dynamics, regulatory environments, and competitive positioning
  • Develop Strategic Insight: Deliver actuarial insights to inform rate changes and key business initiatives, including evaluating pricing for new and existing rating variables and coverages.
  • Quantify & Forecast Impact: Assess top-line and bottom-line effects of rate and non-rate actions, and forecast the impact of product changes, economic trends, and market shifts on profitability and rate adequacy.
  • Lead with Data: Translate complex data into clear, data-driven recommendations, applying sound actuarial judgment
  • Technical Excellence: Leverage advanced SQL skills to efficiently extract, manipulate, and analyze data across multiple systems
  • Oversee and contribute to complex quantitative analyses and modeling efforts
  • Ensure Quality & Accountability: Independently validate analyses through reasonability checks and error identification
  • Ensure your team consistently delivers accurate, high-quality work
  • Communicate & Influence: Clearly present findings and strategic recommendations to peers, business partners, and senior leadership
  • Act as a trusted advisor across the organization
  • Collaborate & Innovate: Partner with cross-functional teams to align actuarial strategies with broader business goals
  • Identify and implement process and methodology improvements to increase efficiency and impact
  • Develop Talent: Mentor, coach, and support your direct team
  • Contribute to the growth and development of junior actuarial staff across the broader function

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of actuarial or related experience
  • ACAS designation or near completion
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional expertise in a specialized field
  • Strong actuarial, analytical, and programming capabilities (SQL proficiency required)
  • Proven ability to execute and oversee complex analyses and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with business partners and senior leadership
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Track record of driving process improvements and enhancing methodologies

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
