About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Software Application Support Engineer to join our team remotely within the United States. This role involves providing operational and technical support for enterprise applications used by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the stability, performance, and security of mission-critical applications that serve Veterans, clinicians, and VA staff. You will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and security personnel to troubleshoot issues, manage deployments, and ensure compliance with federal security policies. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise software applications in production environments
- Proven experience troubleshooting web applications, APIs, and backend services
- Strong understanding of application architecture, system integrations, and database interactions
- Experience analyzing application logs, system metrics, and utilizing monitoring tools
- Proficiency with SQL and relational database management systems
- Familiarity with Linux or Windows server environments
- Experience supporting applications in cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments
- Knowledge of incident management and service management processes
- Experience working within Agile or DevOps development frameworks
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for enterprise applications, diagnosing and resolving issues promptly to minimize service disruptions
- Monitor application performance, logs, and system metrics proactively to identify and resolve potential problems
- Investigate application errors, performance bottlenecks, and integration failures, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Manage production environments by overseeing application deployments, configuration updates, and operational maintenance activities
- Collaborate with development, architecture, and DevSecOps teams to troubleshoot defects, validate fixes, and coordinate application updates and releases
- Participate in incident response activities and support problem management processes to enhance system stability and prevent recurrence of issues
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including troubleshooting guides, support procedures, and system configurations
- Assist with application releases, ensuring proper testing, validation, and coordination across different environments
- Ensure all support activities align with federal security policies, operational procedures, and compliance standards
