Position Overview – Front‑End Pharmacy Technician

Are you looking for a rewarding career that blends meticulous order entry with outstanding customer service? As a Front‑End Pharmacy Technician with arenaflex, you will be an essential part of a closed‑door pharmacy team that supports pharmacists, safeguards medication accuracy, and delivers exceptional service to health‑care providers and patients alike.

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast‑paced environments, enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and are committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order Entry & Verification: Accurately input prescription orders into the pharmacy management system, ensuring that dosage calculations, patient information, and medication details are correct.
  • Customer Service Triage: Assess and prioritize incoming service requests by department, urgency, and required response, directing inquiries to the appropriate team members.
  • Dosage Calculation & Validation: Calculate and verify correct medication dosages based on prescriber instructions, patient weight, age, and renal/hepatic function when applicable.
  • Narcotic Review: Assist in the timely review and documentation of narcotic prescriptions, adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Allergy & Interaction Alerts: Communicate critical allergy information, drug‑drug interaction warnings, therapeutic duplications, and computer‑generated alerts to the dispensing pharmacist.
  • Record Maintenance: Create, update, and maintain precise patient and medication records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other privacy standards.
  • Collaboration with Pharmacists: Work side‑by‑side with pharmacists to resolve discrepancies, answer clinical questions, and support the overall dispensing workflow.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in cross‑training, quality‑assurance initiatives, and process‑enhancement projects to elevate the efficiency and safety of the pharmacy.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current certification, licensure, or registration as a pharmacy technician in accordance with state law.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience performing pharmacy technician duties, preferably in a retail or long‑term‑care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately enter and verify prescription data while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of delivering courteous and effective customer service.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and basic arithmetic; familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) platforms is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Prior experience working in long‑term‑care, skilled‑nursing‑facility, or assisted‑living pharmacy environments.
  • PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) National Certification.
  • Knowledge of controlled substance regulations and experience handling narcotic medication orders.
  • Ability to interpret and act upon clinical decision support alerts generated by pharmacy software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven setting.

Education Requirements

A verifiable high school diploma or GED is required. Additional coursework or certifications related to pharmacy practice, medication safety, or health‑care administration are considered advantageous.
