About arenaflex and the Campus Store Experience

arenaflex is a vibrant, forward‑thinking organization that partners with educational institutions to create dynamic retail environments on campus. Our campus stores serve as bustling hubs where students, faculty, and visitors converge to find essential merchandise, university apparel, and everyday supplies. As a student‑run retail outlet, the store reflects the energy, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit of the campus community. Joining arenaflex means becoming part of a supportive team that values learning, personal growth, and real‑world experience while you continue your academic journey.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑paced retail landscape, the first impression a customer receives can shape their entire relationship with the brand. As a Campus Store Sales & Customer Service Student Associate, you will be the friendly face that greets every shopper, the reliable hand that processes transactions, and the diligent organizer who keeps merchandise looking its best. Your contributions directly impact sales performance, inventory accuracy, and the overall reputation of arenaflex on campus. This role also offers unique exposure to event‑driven retail operations, such as sporting events and graduations, giving you a well‑rounded perspective on seasonal demand spikes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Welcome & Engagement: Greet each customer within seconds of entry, offering a warm, personalized welcome and assisting them in locating products or answering questions.
  • Transaction Management: Operate cash, credit, and digital payment systems with precision, ensuring each transaction is processed quickly, accurately, and in compliance with arenaflex’s secure money‑handling policies.
  • Cash Drawer Oversight: Open, balance, and close daily cash drawers, reconciling sales totals and reporting any discrepancies to the store manager.
  • Merchandise Receiving & Unpacking: Receive new shipments, sort items, and unpack boxes according to established procedures, ensuring all merchandise is accounted for and ready for display.
  • Physical Handling: Safely lift and transport boxes weighing up to 50 lb, using proper ergonomics and teamwork to prevent injury.
  • Store Presentation: Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor by vacuuming, dusting, straightening shelves, and arranging displays according to seasonal themes.
  • Display & Signage Setup: Assist in creating eye‑catching product displays and installing promotional signage that drives traffic and boosts sales.
  • Team Flexibility: Fill in for teammates during breaks, absences, or high‑volume periods, demonstrating adaptability and a collaborative mindset.
  • Order Fulfillment: Pick, process, and pack online or in‑store orders for shipping, ensuring accuracy and timely dispatch.
  • Event Support: Work remote pop‑up locations during campus events—such as football games, concerts, and graduation ceremonies—providing on‑site sales and customer service.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct periodic inventory counts, identify low‑stock items, and assist with reordering general merchandise to keep shelves stocked.
  • Technology Proficiency: Utilize arenaflex’s point‑of‑sale (POS) system, inventory software, and basic computer applications to streamline operations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, listen actively, and resolve issues politely.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and safely lift items up to 50 lb.
  • Excellent organizational abilities, enabling you to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and keep the sales floor orderly.
  • Proficiency with computers and POS systems; prior retail or cash‑handling experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of safe money‑handling procedures, including accurate cash reconciliation and fraud prevention.
  • Reliability and punctuality, especially during peak event periods and scheduled shifts.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Previous experience in a campus‑based or university retail environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software or basic Excel functions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays aligned with campus events.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, with a willingness to support colleagues and share knowledge.
  • Creative eye for visual merchandising and an interest in marketing trends.
  • Passion for the arenaflex brand and a genuine enthusiasm for serving the campus community.

Core Skills and Competencies for Success

  • Communication: Clear, courteous, and confident interaction with diverse customers and teammates.
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate cash handling, precise inventory tracking, and meticulous store presentation.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to think on your feet, address customer concerns, and adapt to unexpected situations.
  • Technology Literacy: Comfortable navigating POS terminals, inventory databases, and basic office software.
  • Physical Agility: Safe lifting techniques, stamina for long shifts, and the ability to move quickly around the store.
  • Time Management: Efficiently juggle multiple responsibilities, from merchandising to order fulfillment.

Career Growth and Learning Opportunities

arenaflex is committed to nurturing talent from within. While this position is designed for students, it serves as a launchpad for future retail management, merchandising, or corporate roles. You will receive:

  • On‑the‑job training from seasoned store managers and corporate mentors.

  • Opportunities to lead special projects, such as seasonal promotions or event pop‑ups, building leadership and project‑management skills.
  • Potential pathways to part‑time or full‑time positions after graduation, based on performance and business needs.
