Department: Adult Education Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Part-time Adult Education ESL Teacher works under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education and will be responsible for providing instruction to individuals with a variety of personal goals, including: learning to speak the English language, improving basic skills, gaining digital literacy skills, acquiring financial literacy skills, and/or earning a GED® credential. This part-time position is assigned to the UACCM Adult Education facility in Conway. The 28-hour per week work schedule consist of daytime and evening hours. Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Provide instruction to adults whose native language is not English. 2. Teach basic skills/concepts in reading, language, and mathematics. 3. Build instructional activities around the four interdependent components of reading: alphabetic, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. 4. Administer the TABE CLAS-E assessment for pre and post-test purposes. 5. Provide a variety of instructional deliveries including individualized instruction, small group instruction, and whole class instruction. 6. Facilitate learning with textbooks, workbooks, lectures, computer based educational programs, audio/visual aids, hands-on activities, and peer tutors. 7. Assist students with the development of digital literacy skills. 8. Provide learning activities designed to enhance financial literacy skills. 9. Collaborate with students to document long and short-term goals based upon identified career pathways. 10. Provide students with progress reports and update individual learning plans on a consistent basis. 11. Maintain accurate student attendance records. 12. Participate in professional development activities as required. 13. Participate in staff meetings. 14. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The formal education of a bachelor’s degree is required. Previous experience providing Adult Education instruction is preferred. Part-time Adult Education teachers are required to hold a valid Arkansas Department of Education Educator’s License. The successful candidate must have a commitment to work cooperatively with all campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of UACCM and have the ability to deliver quality customer services. This position is subject to a pre-employment background check.
