Growth Lead - Early Stage Startup
This role starts with full ownership and grows from there. The person who owns growth end to end, builds the systems that make it repeatable, and takes on increasing responsibility as the company scales.
- You'll work directly with the founder. You'll have full context on product, positioning, and roadmap. You'll set growth strategy, design the infrastructure, and execute. Over time, the scope expands. The expectation is that you grow with it.
- If you've been the person who actually ran the growth function at a startup — not managed a slice of it, but owned the whole thing - owning conversion, retention, revenue, etc.
What you'll own
- Growth strategy across the full funnel — positioning, awareness, acquisition, activation, retention
- Full funnel experimentation — hypothesis, test, read, iterate, document
- Cold email campaigns — copy, sequencing, targeting, deliverability
- Social media execution across platforms — content coordination, cadence, performance
- Messaging architecture — channel-level voice, ICP targeting, copy quality control
- Systems and infrastructure — brand voice documentation, channel playbooks, prompt libraries, automation workflows, and tool stacks that let the team execute without reinventing anything
- Voice capture and replication — you internalize how the founder and company think and speak, then build the reference systems that make that consistent at scale
- Upward communication and founder alignment — you surface what's working, what isn't, and what's next before you're asked. You push back when priorities need sequencing. You create accountability in both directions.
What this role actually looks like
- Founder says "let's test this angle." You turn it into a live experiment by the next morning — copy written, audience segmented, tool configured, tracking in place.
- A conversion rate drops. You already know why. You have a fix running before anyone flags it.
- A cold email sequence has a 2% reply rate. You rewrite the hook, adjust the segment, relaunch within 48 hours.
- Social content goes out inconsistently for two weeks. You build the system that prevents it from happening again.
- Founder has three growth priorities. You push back on one, sequence the other two, and own the timeline.
- Moving at startup speed and comfort with ambiguiety -- understanding each week might look differently as team narrows in on the winning move, but underneath there is strucutre to the chaos always taking the next best step
- What you need
- Demonstrated ownership of full-funnel growth at a startup — not a piece of it, all of it
- Strategy chops and execution instincts — you can think at the level of positioning and also rewrite a cold email subject line at 9pm
- Cold email fluency — you've written sequences, managed deliverability, and know what makes a reply happen
- Social media execution experience across at least two platforms — you know the difference between content that builds and content that fills space
- Strong systems instinct — you document, automate, and build the playbook so the next execution takes half the time
- Voice capture — you can absorb how a founder and company think and speak, then build the reference systems that make that consistent across every channel without founder involvement on every piece
- Data and product literacy — you read funnel metrics, form hypotheses, and design clean tests
- Direct founder communication — you push, you pull, you move fast, and you create structure where there isn't any
- Async-first — you write clearly, document decisions, and don't create dependency
- Expert learning new tools and leveraging AI intelligently to expedite work and quality control
- Proactive, fast, thorough -- always thinking ahead and creating external velocity
Where this goes This role is built to expand. You start by owning the full growth function. As the company scales, the scope grows with you — more channels, more complexity, and eventually a team to lead. Increased responsibility comes with demonstrated results, not a fixed timeline. Logistics
- Full time contractor position to start. One month trial to assess mutual fit. Full commitment to engagemtn required - no external work allowed due to IP. Transition to full time equivalent as fit/growth scale
- Fully remote (global team). US East (EST) timezone and IST coordination required.
- Long term placement and growth opportunity. Own the vertical, and scale it.
- To apply: Tell us what you've owned, what you've moved, and what you'd want to understand about where we are before deciding this is the right fit. Include your availability, timezone, and rate.
