Examiner Trainee / Title Examiner / Senior Title Examiner
EASTERN TITLE DIVISION Job Description: We are seeking an Examiner, Sr Examiner or Commercial Examiner for this opening. This role is responsible for reviewing and interpreting chains of title from title plant systems for mapped properties with direct starter bases, as well as preparing and issuing accurate preliminary reports. Candidates must have Virginia transaction experience.
- This is a remote position but must be located in driving distance to Charlottesville to deliver recordings to the courthouse.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify all property and tax information obtained is complete and correctly reported.
- Verify all necessary maps and additional documents for customer packages are made for each search.
- Confirm starter base is appropriate for run start date, and all subsequent information is included in search package.
- Review and interpret all documents, maps and instruments contained in the chain of title obtained from various property information systems from a direct starter date.
- Support Searching Unit as needed for product workflow.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the title industry.
- Strong knowledge of legal descriptions and property locating techniques.
- Familiarity with real property databases and the ability to compile accurate title abstracts.
- Understanding of title insurance practices, real estate law, and company policies related to preliminary reports.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality, accurate results.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
