Creative Front-End Engineer
Seconds is a membership platform for adults in midlife. Smart, opinionated, and moving fast toward launch. We're looking for a creative front-end engineer who moves comfortably between polished UI implementation and real product engineering — someone who makes the site feel considered, stable, fast, and alive. This is not a "make it pretty" role and it's not a pure engineering role either. It's both. We want someone who notices when a transition is two milliseconds off and also cares deeply about correctness, maintainability, and edge cases. What you'll be doing Building, refining, and maintaining the Seconds web experience across marketing pages, onboarding, membership, account, content, and brand-access areas. Translating design direction into clean, responsive, production-quality UI. Working directly in an existing Next.js codebase, following established patterns rather than reinventing the system. Fixing bugs, resolving edge cases, and cleaning up launch-blocking issues. Implementing user flows around registration, login, onboarding, membership, and account management. Working with APIs and server and client boundaries in Next.js. Handling practical launch needs like SEO metadata, analytics hooks, accessibility, and responsive QA. Producing HTML emails for launch and ongoing editorial communications. What we're looking for Strong hands-on experience with Next.js App Router, React, TypeScript, SCSS and CSS Modules, HTML semantics and accessibility, and API-driven front-end work. Fluent in GitHub. Pixel-perfect accuracy from design handoffs with a critical eye that extends beyond the visual. Able to read an existing codebase quickly and make scoped, careful changes. Understands when something belongs in a server component versus a client component. Communicates clearly, asks focused questions, and works without heavy hand-holding. Uses AI as acceleration, not as a substitute for engineering judgment. Bonus skills Familiarity with motion design tools like Rive or After Effects will set you apart. Experience with membership products, commerce flows, Shopify or Liquid templating, content-driven sites, and design-system-minded development is a genuine plus. Structure Freelance, hourly or retainer based on availability and scope. US preferred, open to remote with US time zone overlap. Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
