Senior Copywriter / Junior Video Producer (Remote, 1099 Contract, $25-30/hr)

Senior Copywriter / Junior Video Producer — Bit House Digital (Remote, 1099 Contractor) We're a digital marketing agency that runs paid ads for contractors (bathroom, kitchen, tile, decking, fencing, roofing). Our work books their calendars with qualified homeowners. We're growing fast and need a senior copywriter who can also do basic video editing to own our creative refresh loop. What you'll do:

• Write ad scripts and hooks for our contractor clients (talking-head + b-roll voiceover formats)
• Operate ElevenLabs for voiceovers (we use AI text to voice over for almost every ad)
• Cut clean audio files for our video editor
• Do basic video edits yourself (hook swaps, Canva image ads, testimonial overlays) for clients
• Brief our video editor (we'll guide you on the workflow)
• Maintain our tracking sheet, propose tier changes weekly based on performance

Who you are:

• 2-3+ years of copywriting experience (paid social, lead-gen, or direct response preferred)
• Strong with diagnostic, problem-aware ad copy, you naturally write the way US small business owners talk, not the way ChatGPT writes
• Comfortable with Claude / ChatGPT as a tool, but you edit hard, no AI slop in finished work
• Basic video editing chops (CapCut, Premiere, or similar), we'll teach you what we expect
• Self-directed, you can run a weekly batch without daily check-ins after the first month
• Meta ads experience is a plus
• Open to international: Philippines, South Africa, Argentina, Eastern Europe all welcome. Must have perfect written English and the ability to write US-conversational copy (mid-American voice, not formal or translated English)

Meta policy basics (you'll need these): You'll be writing Meta ads. There are 3 things that can get a client's ad account banned. Memorize these:

• Never use the word "financing." Meta flags it as Special Ad Category, which kills targeting. Use "$0 down" or "no payments for 12 months" instead, same offer, different framing.
• Never address negative personal attributes. Bad: "are you tired of being broke?" or "Your house looks outdated." Good: "Most kitchens in [city] are 20+ years overdue."
• Never frame home services as health/safety. Bad: "Your old kitchen is making your family sick." Good: "Your old kitchen is costing you time and stress."

Everything else in Meta's policy book we'll teach you. These 3 are the deal-breakers. What you’ll need:

• Reliable laptop or desktop (Mac or Windows, 8GB RAM minimum)
• Stable internet (minimum 25 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up)
• Video editing tool: we provide a CapCut Pro seat. Premiere or Final Cut preferred if you already have one (we don't reimburse personal software).
• Telegram account (daily team comms)
• Toggl account (free, for tracking hours)
• Comfortable with Claude or ChatGPT as a writing tool. We'll add you to our Claude Team workspace with all our custom prompts and reference materials in week 1.

Compensation:

• 1099 contractor, $25-$30/hr starting depending on experience
• Path to full time as the agency grows (we're scaling fast)
• 15-20 hr/week during 2-week paid trial, 20-25 hr/week ongoing

Hard requirements:

• Limited-time urgency built into the script

• Each hook transitions cleanly into the base script (no jarring shift)
• US contractor voice, conversational, no AI tells, no em dashes
• Full base script + one hook must read aloud in 45 seconds or less.
