As a Fish and Wildlife Technician, you will play a critical role in the management and conservation of New York's diverse fish and wildlife populations. Conduct field surveys and data collection to monitor fish and wildlife populations and habitats. Assist with the implementation of management plans for fish and wildlife species. Conduct research and gather information to aid in the development of conservation strategies. Collaborate with other team members and agencies to address conservation issues and promote sustainable management practices. Maintain and operate equipment and tools necessary for field work, such as boats, ATVs, and GPS units. Educate the public on wildlife and natural resource management and conservation efforts. Assist with the maintenance and improvement of wildlife habitats, including planting and removing invasive species. Compile and analyze data to create reports and make recommendations for management decisions. Provide support for wildlife and fish stocking programs. Assist with the enforcement of state and federal regulations related to fish and wildlife management. Attend trainings and workshops to stay updated on new techniques and developments in the field of conservation. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while conducting field work. Maintain accurate records and documentation of field work and data.
