Clinician Coverage Coordinator (a.k.a. Scheduler) Location: Remote FLSA Classification: Exempt Compensation: $65,000 annually + Incentive plan Travel Requirement: Occasional travel (less than 10%) About OB Hospitalist Group (OBHG) At OB Hospitalist Group (OBHG), we’re redefining how hospitals deliver obstetric care. As the nation’s largest and most experienced OB hospitalist provider, we ensure 24/7 obstetric coverage, giving patients access to immediate, high-quality care when it matters most. We’re seeking a Clinician Coverage Coordinator to join our Scheduling team and support our mission to improve outcomes for mothers and babies nationwide. Position Summary The Clinician Coverage Coordinator supports OBHG operations by coordinating and managing clinician schedules across assigned hospital programs. This role ensures that shifts are efficiently filled with a mix of full-time, part-time, and locum tenens clinicians — balancing staffing needs with operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, relationship-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and publish clinician schedules across assigned programs. Fill open and emergency shifts in collaboration with recruitment, HR, privileging, and operations teams. Partner with the Clinician Experience team to coordinate onboarding and orientation for new clinicians. Communicate proactively with clinicians and internal stakeholders to ensure timely shift coverage. Negotiate with clinicians to fill open shifts, balancing budget constraints and contractual requirements. Maintain accurate schedule documentation and data within the scheduling system. Develop and nurture professional relationships with clinicians through phone, email, and text communication. Support organizational goals to provide 90-day advance notice of schedules where possible.
Qualifications
Required: 2–3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling, operations, or a related field. Proven success managing complex workloads with accuracy under tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling software systems. Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform in a high-paced environment. Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal and negotiation abilities. Preferred: Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field. Experience coordinating locum tenens or per diem providers. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
