Role: APV is seeking a Senior Data Content Analyst to support the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) mission of advancing rare disease research by improving access to accurate, user-friendly health information for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. This role is responsible for independently managing and optimizing complex rare disease data and content, ensuring quality, consistency, and discoverability. The analyst will perform data analysis (including ROT analysis), design metadata and tagging structures, and generate insights through dashboards and reporting, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive effective knowledge management practices. Duties: The Senior Data Content Analyst will:
- Independently review, organize, and validate data sets from multiple sources, including Salesforce dashboards and Excel data sets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency, while resolving discrepancies and maintaining high data quality standards.
- Develop and maintain advanced reports, dashboards, and visualizations in Salesforce and Excel to deliver data-driven insights that inform strategic content recommendations, guide decision-making, and improve operational efficiency.
- Design, document (using MS Word), and recommend data management logic to prioritize content creation and optimization.
- Design and implement account linkage structures and tagging frameworks using Salesforce custom objects such as “Linking Object/Table” and “Custom Tag Object with Category Field,” applying ontology and taxonomy principles to establish structured knowledge representation, hierarchical relationships, controlled vocabularies, and metadata governance. Maintain and enhance the tagging repository to ensure consistency, accuracy, scalability, and efficient content classification and discoverability.
- Design, develop, recommend, and maintain knowledge articles in Salesforce to ensure content remains accurate, accessible, and up to date.
- Conduct ROT (Redundant, Obsolete, Trivial) analysis to identify and clean unnecessary or outdated data and content, improving overall data efficiency and usability, track findings using Excel, and document summary reports using Word.
- Ensure data integrity through rigorous quality assessments, validation checks, and governance enforcement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including government stakeholders, data engineers, and subject matter experts—to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions.
- Maintain metadata repositories, documentation libraries, and data catalogs in Salesforce, capturing lineage, provenance, and usage.
- Support Agile Scrum processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives, by creating work breakdown structures (WBS) and generating Jira tickets to ensure clear task tracking and continuous delivery.Train and document data curation, tagging, and account linkage best practices.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in information science, data analytics, library science, or a related field. R equired Experience and Skills:
- 4+ years of experience in data science, data management, or content curation.
- Experience designing and implementing data ontologies and structured knowledge systems.
- Proficient in metadata tagging, taxonomy development, and data governance.
- Proficient in using Excel and Copilot to analyze, interpret, and manage complex scientific and research data, including large datasets, trend analysis, data validation, reporting automation, and the generation of actionable insights to support scientific and business decision-making.
- Understanding of fundamental Salesforce Lightning (Summer ’25 release) concepts such as Object, Field, Record, Linking object/table, custom Tag object with Category field (pick list or lookup), Knowledge Article
- Understanding data modeling, relationship management, and workflow automation.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration skills.Experience working in Agile Scrum environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s degree in information science, data analytics, library science, or similar.
- Prior experience with federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health
- Familiarity with MedlinePlus, SNOMED, Mondo Disease Ontology (MONDO), Orphanet Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM), and Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO)Knowledge of public health information systems, particularly NIH Genetics and Rare Diseases knowledge management.
