[Hiring] Optical Billing Associate @Remote
Role Description The Billing Associate is responsible for the daily acceptance of charges for their assigned providers or modality. They will follow the process as outlined in their training to accept, correct, investigate, and bill charges. The Billing Associate will be responsible for the AR for the assigned modality of work. These assignments may change as the business needs change. They will need to investigate denials, make the necessary changes to the claim, and resubmit the claim to the payer. The Billing Associate will need to be familiar with Nextgen tasking, Waystar workgroups, and payer websites to utilize the most efficient manner to get a claim processed for payment. The Billing Associate will work under the direction of a billing lead.
Responsibilities
- Understand how to effectively utilize the systems used to bill insurance claims, work denials, and AR. These include Nextgen, Waystar, and Clearwave - training will be provided.
- Work with the Financial Services Team to assist with patient questions concerning their bill.
- Make necessary changes to the patients' demographics and insurance information to obtain payment from the appropriate insurance company for both primary and secondary coverages if the information in the system is inaccurate.
- Ability to work large numbers of claims.
- Make corrections as needed to the patient's computer record so that future insurance claims and statements are accurate.
- Make calls to insurance companies to understand the denial and what needs to be done to get the appropriate payment for the services provided.
- Review, correct, and process charges for the providers or clinic as assigned by your billing lead.
- Work denied claims in a timely fashion so that KPI's are maintained for percentages of aged AR.
- Communicate effectively with other billers and billing leads to identify trends in errors and denials so that the root cause of the denial can be addressed.
Qualifications
- Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Experience with Excel, Word, and Teams is preferred.
- Medical billing knowledge, CPT, ICD-10 codes.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience in medical billing, Ophthalmology would be preferred.
