3D Artist for Game‑Ready Assets (Unity‑Ready) – Environment Experience a Plus - Contract to Hire
Description: North Tech Services LLC is looking for a 3D Artist to create and optimize game‑ready assets for a real‑time interactive project. You will work with the project lead and an environment artist to produce Unity‑ready models and textures. Note: We also need an Environment Artist on this project. If you have strong environment/layout/lighting experience in addition to props, we can expand your role and negotiate a higher rate to cover both responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Model, UV, and texture game‑ready 3D assets (props, set dressing, structural elements, etc.). Prepare assets for real‑time use in Unity (clean topology, reasonable poly counts, PBR materials, correct scale). Create LODs and collision meshes where appropriate. Follow a defined art direction and maintain consistency with existing assets. Deliver organized asset packages with clear naming and folder structure. If you also take on environment work (optional but preferred), responsibilities may include: Assembling and dressing environment scenes using your own and existing assets. Setting up basic lighting, fog/atmospherics, and post‑processing to achieve a clear, readable look. Collaborating with the project lead to ensure environments support narrative and user experience goals.
Requirements
Experience creating real‑time 3D assets for games or interactive applications. Strong skills in modeling and UVs in your preferred DCC (Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, etc.). Experience with PBR texturing (Substance Painter/Designer or equivalent). Understanding of performance constraints for real‑time projects. Nice to have Previous work with Unity or Unreal pipelines. Environment art experience (layout, lighting, scene composition). Familiarity with version control (Git, Plastic, Perforce). When you apply, please include: A brief overview of your 3D asset experience. 4–6 links to representative props/asset work (ArtStation, portfolio, Sketchfab, etc.). If you have environment work, links to those scenes as well, and whether you’d be interested in taking on both 3D + environment responsibilities at an adjusted rate.
