Part-Time Remote Staff Auditor (Independent Contractor) About the Firm We are a small, family-oriented, growing CPA firm specializing in audits and reviews for not-for-profit organizations across the United States. Our work focuses on helping libraries, arts organizations, community nonprofits, foundations, and human service agencies. As our client base expands, we are in need of a Part-Time Staff Auditor (Independent Contractor) who is looking for long-term, steady work with exceptional flexibility. This position also offers meaningful long-term growth opportunities as the firm continues to expand. Position Summary The Staff Auditor supports our Managing Member in completing audits and reviews using an organized workpaper and engagement process. You will work 100% remotely by securely accessing a dedicated firm-provided laptop. All necessary software, templates, checklists, and materials will be provided. This is a long-term, consistent, part-time role with work available year-round.

What You'll Do

  • Perform assigned audit/review procedures within agreed-upon budgets
  • Prepare supporting workpapers, schedules, and documentation
  • Complete analytical procedures, confirmations, and routine audit testing
  • Assist in preparing financial statement drafts and footnotes
  • Communicate with clients as needed to collect documentation
  • Follow established quality control processes and checklists
  • Use CCH Engagement to complete and organize all audit workpapers (training provided)

Work Structure:

  • Work independently and remotely on your own schedule
  • Submit periodic invoicing/time summaries
  • Participate in virtual check-ins with the Managing Member
  • Receive engagement guidance and established firm methodologies

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to commit to position for at least one year
  • Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting principles supported by substantial accounting coursework.
  • Audit or accounting experience in a not-for-profit environment
  • CCH Engagement experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat (for PDF management)
  • Open to learning and productively using AI applications available (e.g., ChatGPT)
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines
  • Must be comfortable working as an independent contractor (1099 basis)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Experience with CCH Engagement
  • Prior audit and/or review experience
  • Desire for stable, long-term part-time work with flexibility
