Experienced Medical Intake / Data Entry Specialist – Healthcare Administration Support

As a vital first point of contact for our Utilization Review Department, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the collection of intake information, creating electronic patient files, and sorting and mailing certification letters.

Overview of the Role
As a Medical Intake / Data Entry Specialist, you'll be responsible for supporting the Utilization Review Department by performing the following key tasks:
- Answering Utilization Review line and directing calls to the appropriate person, retrieving voicemail, and transferring messages to the assigned nurse
- Collecting demographic information to create patient files
- Printing, mailing, faxing, and copying correspondence as necessary
- Performing other duties as assigned by the URA Team Leader
Key Responsibilities
* Answer and direct calls to the appropriate person, ensuring timely and effective communication
- Collect and verify demographic information to create accurate patient files
- Prepare and mail certification letters, ensuring timely and efficient processing
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, adhering to arenaflex's data entry standards
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner
- Collaborate with the URA Team Leader to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Essential Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Courses in computers, medical terminology, data entry, word processing, and secretarial training desired
- At least one year of professional office experience, with experience in a healthcare environment required
- Knowledge of computers, data entry in databases, word processing, and multiple line telephone systems
- Bi-lingual helpful but not required
- Ability to proof written material accurately and maintain attention to detail
- Accurate data entry ability and ability to organize a large variety of tasks and prioritize as directed by the assigned URA Team Leader
- Understanding of customer service and ability to work with a variety of professional staff
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and healthcare software
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems
- Certification in medical billing or coding
- Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
