Product Owner - Billing Platform Evolution
About the client Our client, an international payment solutions provider, is seeking a Product Owner / Product Strategist to lead the development and transformation of their internal billing and reporting platform. Role Overview This role goes beyond traditional product ownership - you will drive the evolution of an internal financial system into a scalable, merchant-facing SaaS product, supporting multiple entities, regions, and external clients. The position combines product strategy, financial system development, monetisation, and cross-functional leadership to improve efficiency, transparency, and reliability across all payment and settlement processes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the redesign and optimisation of the company’s billing, invoicing, and reconciliation platform Drive the evolution from an internal tool to a merchant-facing and external SaaS solution Build structured, scalable architecture to support multi-entity, multi-tenant environments, multiple currencies, and regions Develop and implement monetisation strategies, including pricing models (e.g. usage-based, reporting tools, dashboards) Collaborate closely with engineering, finance, commercial, and operations teams to align product and business objectives Define and own the product roadmap, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of features Design and improve merchant-facing reporting tools, dashboards, and financial documentation (invoices, settlement reports, statements) Ensure audit readiness, data accuracy, and compliance with financial and regulatory standards Contribute to security architecture, including access control, audit logs, and secure handling of sensitive financial data Support product positioning, client onboarding, and documentation in collaboration with commercial teams Establish scalable processes for product governance, reporting, and continuous improvement
Requirements
Proven experience in product strategy or product management within fintech, payments, SaaS, or financial systems Strong understanding of billing, reconciliation, accounting workflows, and financial reporting Experience building or scaling B2B / SaaS products, ideally from internal tools to external solutions Experience working with multi-tenant or multi-entity platforms Ability to bridge technical and business teams - confident discussing APIs, architecture, and integrations Experience leading system modernisation, platform transformation, or migration projects Understanding of security and access control systems (e.g. RBAC, audit logs, data protection) Knowledge of GDPR, PCI DSS, DORA, or similar regulations is a strong advantage Professional proficiency in English is required. Additional languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, or Ukrainian are highly beneficial.
