Maritime Business Development Director
MarineLabs, based in Victoria, BC, Canada, is a fast-growing Coastal Intelligence company delivering real-time and predictive weather, camera data, and actionable intelligence through our rugged fleet of rapid-deploy sensor nodes. Our data and predictive tools help ports, pilots, and maritime operators improve safety and efficiency on a subscription model built for scale. We’re now at an inflection point that requires dedicated focus on rapid, sustainable growth. We’re actively serving and expanding our footprint in Eastern Canada and the North Atlantic. We’re seeking an action‑oriented, strategic, and relationship‑driven Regional Maritime Business Development Director to accelerate growth in this key region and strengthen partnerships across port authorities, terminals, ferry operators, and marine service providers who need enhanced weather intelligence to make critical decisions. What You’ll Do Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities within the eastern territory maritime sectors. Build lasting relationships with operational and executive decision‑makers through trust, technical understanding, and value proposition. Own revenue quota for new customer acquisition. Research key accounts and market trends to inform account strategies and growth priorities. Deliver high‑impact demos, trials, and presentations in collaboration with technical leads. Negotiate and close contracts with leadership support. Represent MarineLabs at trade shows, customer sites, and industry events. Provide feedback to product and operations teams on evolving customer needs and use cases. What You Bring 10+ years of business development or enterprise sales experience. Ideally, in maritime, shipping, ocean technology, or a related operational industry. Maritime credentials (Master Mariner or deep operational maritime knowledge) strongly preferred. Strong familiarity with maritime customer pain points, including operational safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. Proven track record of closing new business and fostering customer relationships that endure. High technical curiosity; you’re comfortable learning and explaining hardware‑enabled data systems or predictive analytics tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an instinct for adapting your communication style to resonate with people from different regions and maritime backgrounds. A proactive, hunter mindset: you excel at opening doors, not just managing accounts. Based in Eastern Canada, with the ability to travel up to 50% domestically and occasionally within your territory, as well as to the U.S. or Europe.
