As our practice grows, we are seeking a dedicated, North Carolina-licensed Psychiatrist to serve as a Collaborative and Supervising Physician for our team of advanced practice providers (NPs and PAs). Position Overview This is a purely administrative, non-clinical oversight role. There is no direct patient care, no on-call hours, and no caseload management required. The ideal candidate will provide the required state-level regulatory collaboration and supervisory oversight for our psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs), ensuring compliance with the North Carolina Medical Board and Board of Nursing guidelines. This role is highly flexible and perfect for a physician looking to supplement their income with a predictable, low-hour monthly commitment.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Oversight: Serve as the designated Collaborative Physician for NPs and Supervising Physician for PAs in accordance with North Carolina state laws. Chart Reviews: Conduct routine, periodic retrospective chart reviews (typically 10-20 charts per month per provider) to ensure clinical quality and documentation compliance. Quality Assurance & Consultation: Provide periodic clinical consultation, advice, and feedback to mid-level providers regarding complex cases as reasonably requested. Regulatory Compliance: Participate in and document mandatory monthly or periodic quality assurance meetings with providers (can be conducted virtually) as required by NC law. Agreement Maintenance: Review and sign annual Collaborative Practice Agreements and Supervisory Arrangements. Qualifications & Requirements Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Licensure: Unrestricted, active license to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina. Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (General, Adult, or Child/Adolescent). Credentials: Active DEA registration. Clean Record: No active malpractice claims or disciplinary actions by the NC Medical Board. Location: Must be licensed in NC. Candidates living in or near the Charlotte metro area are preferred for local alignment, but fully remote NC-based candidates will be considered.
