Role: Crisis & Resilience Operations Intern Location: Remote Schedule: Part-Time, guaranteed 20 hours per week Duration: 3-6 months Reports To : TRI Emergency Manager About The Resiliency Initiative (TRI) : TRI is an award-winning, woman-owned and led boutique crisis management and resiliency firm certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the National Council of Women Business Enterprises (NCWBE). TRI was founded on a passion to support communities impacted by disasters. We believe that providing communities with the tools for emergency preparedness planning, training, and exercises creates a strong framework for partnership with state, tribal, and federal response agencies before, during, and after a crisis event. Position Summary The Crisis & Resilience Operations Intern is a paid, part-time internship designed to provide immediate, hands-on experience supporting active client work across the public and private sectors. The position is entirely remote/virtual with the expectation of working 20 hours per week beginning July 13, 2026, for a minimum duration of 3-6 months. This role is intentionally immersive, offering real-world exposure to crisis management, emergency preparedness, and resilience consulting through direct contribution to client deliverables. This position will report directly to TRI’s Emergency Manager and work closely with project managers and senior staff to support client projects, research, analysis, and professional communications. Example projects include hazard mitigation, evacuation, business continuity, and crisis management planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support active client engagements across public- and private-sector projects related to emergency management, continuity planning, crisis preparedness, and resilience initiatives.
  • Conduct research, data collection, analysis, and documentation in support of client deliverables, including plans, assessments, reports, and presentations.
  • Assist with the preparation of client-ready materials, meeting agendas, summaries, and communications.
  • Participate in internal project meetings and select client-facing meetings, as appropriate, to gain exposure to consulting practices and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support project coordination tasks and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of TRI’s mission and client work.

Learning & Professional Experience. Through this apprenticeship, the intern will:

  • Gain immediate, real-world experience supporting client projects in both the public and private sectors.
  • Potential opportunity to travel for client engagement or professional development.
  • Develop applied skills in emergency management, continuity planning, equity-centered engagement, and crisis communication through hands-on project work.
  • Receive ongoing mentorship, supervision, and feedback from TRI’s Emergency Manager and senior staff.
  • Access professional development opportunities that complement project work and support long-term career growth in crisis management and resiliency.

Qualifications

  • Experience in emergency management, public policy, public health, planning, social sciences, communications, or a related field, for example:
  • Recent completion of an undergraduate degree,
  • Enrollment in or recent completion of a graduate program,
  • EMS, Fire, Law Enforcement, Environmental Health & Safety, etc.
  • Experience with research, planning processes, community engagement, or nonprofit/consulting environments.
  • Strong written, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment.
  • Familiarity with emergency management frameworks or planning tools.
  • Passion for community resilience, equity, and service.

Requirements

  • Commitment to TRI’s Guiding Principles and Values.
  • Availability to work approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Ability to support active client projects, participate in internal and client meetings as needed, and meet project milestones.

Compensation & Pay Schedule

  • Hourly rate of $25, paid semi-monthly through TRI’s payroll system.
  • Pay is issued twice per month, on the 15th and the last day of each month, subject to standard payroll withholdin
