Secondary English Teacher (Grades 6–12) – Virtual/Hybrid Teacher Pool
About the position LISA Academy’s Hybrid/Online Campus is seeking engaging, student-centered educators to join our Secondary English Teacher Pool (Grades 6–12) for the 2026–2027 school year. This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with teachers working remotely on Mondays and on campus Tuesday–Friday. Our instructional model is primarily online, with structured on-site learning opportunities for students throughout the week. Teachers support students in both virtual and in-person settings, providing instruction, intervention, and academic support in English Language Arts. Under the supervision of the School Principal, the Secondary English Teacher will implement district-approved curriculum, monitor student progress, and create a rigorous, engaging learning environment that supports student success in reading, writing, and communication.
Responsibilities
- Deliver standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction (Grades 6–12), including reading, writing, speaking, and listening
- Facilitate student learning within an online instructional model, while supporting on-site learning opportunities and interventions
- Develop and implement lessons that build literacy skills, critical thinking, and analytical writing
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students requiring remediation or enrichment
- Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative measures, including writing assessments and reading comprehension tasks
- Provide timely, actionable feedback to support student growth in literacy skills
- Use data to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions
- Prepare students for state assessments and maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and performance
- Foster a positive, structured learning environment that supports student voice and engagement
- Encourage discussion, collaboration, and critical analysis of texts
- Promote responsible digital citizenship and effective communication
- Maintain student behavior expectations aligned with school and district policies
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and administration regarding progress and expectations
- Support families in understanding the online learning model and student literacy development
- Collaborate with English department and grade-level teams to align curriculum and instructional practices
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and committees
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including best practices in literacy instruction and online/blended learning
- Reflect on teaching practices and pursue continuous improvement
- Supervise students during on-site learning opportunities and school-day activities
- Maintain instructional materials and classroom resources
- Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership
- Utilize learning management systems, student information systems, and digital literacy platforms
- Use standard classroom and office technology
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Secondary Education, or related field (required)
- Valid Arkansas Teaching License with appropriate Secondary English/ELA certification (required)
Nice-to-haves
- Master’s degree (preferred)
- Prior teaching experience in secondary English preferred
- Experience with online, blended, or virtual instruction is a plus
