Accounting Strategy CPA

About the Role

The Accounting Strategy CPA will help ensure that client books are accurate, timely, and strategically prepared for tax planning and compliance. This position requires strong accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to identify issues before they become bigger problems during tax season. The right candidate will be comfortable reviewing monthly financials, identifying cleanup needs, improving bookkeeping quality, and helping create a seamless connection between bookkeeping and tax preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and prepare monthly client financials for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure books are organized, reconciled, and ready for tax preparation
• Identify bookkeeping issues that may affect tax planning, compliance, or reporting
• Review balance sheets, profit and loss statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Help improve accounting workflows, review processes, and quality control standards
• Support the accuracy and consistency of monthly bookkeeping deliverables
• Collaborate with internal team members to resolve accounting questions and client file issues
• Help ensure client financials support proactive tax strategy and year-end planning
• Provide guidance on accounting treatment, cleanup needs, and financial reporting best practices
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism, confidentiality, and client service

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required
• Strong experience in bookkeeping, accounting review, or client accounting services
• Experience preparing or reviewing monthly financial statements
• Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, income statements, journal entries, and month-end close processes
• Ability to identify accounting errors, cleanup needs, and tax-impacting issues
• Experience working with small business clients preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Comfortable using cloud-based accounting and practice management tools

Preferred Experience

• Experience with QuickBooks Online
• Experience working in a tax, accounting, bookkeeping, or advisory firm
• Familiarity with preparing books for tax returns and year-end tax planning
• Experience reviewing work completed by other accounting team members
• Experience improving accounting workflows or internal processes
