Information Technology Infrastructure Specialist
Job Description – Infrastructure Technical Specialist (AWS / FileCloud Administrator) Position Title: Infrastructure Technical Specialist (ITS) Location: Remote (Prefer Iowa Locals) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Technical Specialist (ITS) with strong expertise in AWS Cloud Infrastructure, AWS VDI environments, and FileCloud Administration. This role serves as the primary administrator for the DIAL AWS GovCloud environment and supports critical platforms including:
- AMANDA
- FileCloud
- DIAL Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
The selected candidate will be responsible for cloud infrastructure administration, FileCloud user support, monitoring, security compliance, patching, troubleshooting, and ongoing operational support. The role requires both technical depth and strong collaboration skills to support enterprise-wide cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary FileCloud Administrator for onboarding users, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support.
- Manage and maintain AWS infrastructure supporting VDI environments and business applications.
- Support AWS GovCloud environments and related cloud platforms.
- Perform system monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting activities.
- Handle nightly and weekend on-call patching and operational support.
- Ensure cloud environments meet security and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve infrastructure and application issues.
- Provide clear communication, status reporting, and technical documentation.
- Support cloud adoption initiatives, migrations, server builds, and infrastructure deployments.
- Troubleshoot complex distributed cloud environments and application performance issues.
- Continuously learn and adapt to new systems, technologies, and business processes.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 8+ years of FileCloud Administration experience handling:
- Staff onboarding
- User troubleshooting
- Technical support
- 5+ years managing AWS infrastructure for VDI environments.
- 5+ years managing AWS infrastructure supporting business applications.
- 5+ years of advanced system security methods and techniques.
- 5+ years handling patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong initiative and self-learning capability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
Technical Requirements
- Experience with cloud adoption initiatives including:
- Application readiness assessments
- Environment prototyping
- Server builds
- Data migration
- Enterprise systems administration experience in client/server environments.
- Experience with deployment automation tools.
- Experience supporting customers or working in consulting/support roles.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as:
- AWS
- Microsoft Azure
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience designing and implementing distributed systems architecture.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in complex distributed cloud environments.
- Experience with cloud monitoring and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows
- Linux
- CLI environments
- VM infrastructure
- Knowledge of:
- Networking
- Storage
- IT Security
- Infrastructure architecture
- Familiarity with applications and technologies including:
- Java
- .NET
