Job Summary

As a Billing Customer Service Representative, you'll be the first point of contact for patients, insurance companies, and their representatives. You'll provide friendly and efficient service, ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential and secure in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities

* Serve as the first point of contact for call escalations, providing friendly and efficient service to patients, insurance companies, and their representatives.

  • Relay messages from requesters to appropriate team members or departments utilizing multiple software applications.
  • Review requester concerns for escalation and assist with coordinating incoming and outgoing billing requests.
  • Ensure timely sorting, facilitating responses, and follow-ups to meet patient and insurance company needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in regular team meetings via video or teleconference to stay informed and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Demonstrate competency in the performance of job-related skills and provide excellent customer service to patients and insurance companies.
  • Utilize and operate equipment and mechanical devices to provide a functional, effective, and safe environment.

Essential Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in customer service, billing, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, insurance companies, and internal departments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Proficiency in multiple software applications, including billing and customer service platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high volume of calls and requests.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working in a healthcare or medical billing environment.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality procedures.
  • Certification in customer service or a related field (e.g., Certified Customer Service Representative (CCSR)).
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and insurance companies in multiple languages.
