As a Crisis Chat Text Counselor, you will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about making a positive impact in the community.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Crisis Chat Text Counselor, you will be responsible for providing crisis intervention services to individuals in emotional distress through our 988 Crisis Chat and Text services. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing crisis intervention counseling to a wide range of chat/text visitors, including those experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviors
• Conducting risk assessments, safety planning, and de-escalation techniques to ensure the well-being of our clients
• Establishing good rapport with chat/text visitors and providing emotional support and resources as needed
• Completing thorough documentation for all crisis chat/text interactions in real-time
• Meeting quality assurance standards, including a minimum of 75% on quality evaluations and an answer rate of 85% within the first 5 weeks
• Attending weekly supervision and participating in ongoing training and professional development

Secondary Responsibilities

In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will also be expected to:

• Report on-site as needed and participate in other duties as assigned or required
• Assist in training new Crisis Chat staff and contribute to the growth and development of our team

Agency-wide Responsibilities

As a member of our team, you will also be expected to:

• Participate in supervision, in-service training, and staff meetings
• Maintain good working relationships with co-workers and positively contribute to group morale
• Complete all administrative duties, including time sheets and leave requests, on time
• Use appropriate channels of communication to resolve conflicts with other staff and interact with staff, clients, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner

Education and Experience

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school with a minimum of 120 college credits or a Master's Degree from an accredited school with a minimum of 30 graduate school credits
• 1 year of experience in mental health services, preferably in crisis intervention services, suicide prevention, and intervention
• Proficiency in Microsoft Products and other software applications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and knowledge of local and statewide community resources

Work Conditions

As a Crisis Chat Text Counselor, you will be working in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. You will be expected to:

• Share office space with Crisis Chat Counselors
• Work flexible hours, including holidays and evenings, to meet program needs
• Lift up to 25 pounds
