Key Responsibilities
As an Experienced Pharmacy Customer Service Associate, you'll be responsible for:
- Modeling and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience that exceeds our customers' expectations
- Registering sales on assigned cash register, providing customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service
- Assisting the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
- Engaging customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience
- Recommending items for sale to customers and recommending trade-up and/or companion items
- Registering customer purchases on assigned cash register, collecting cash and distributing change as requested; processing voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed
- Keeping counters and shelves clean and well merchandised, taking inventory, and maintaining records
- Checking in and pricing merchandise as required or as directed by store manager or communicated by the shift leader
- Performing duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions
- Reporting, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhering to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program
- Handling telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians
- Processing (correcting and resubmitting) manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performing other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager
- Assisting and supporting Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals
- Maintaining knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and filing claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs
- Ensuring compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco products)
- Constructing and maintaining displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures, and sale merchandise
- Assisting with separation of food items (e.g., raw foods from pre-cooked) and product placement as specified by policies/procedures (e.g., raw and frozen meats on bottom shelves)
- Providing customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print, and creative machine, suggestive sell of promotional photo products
- Assuming web pick-up responsibilities (monitors orders in Picture Care Plus, fills orders, delivers orders to customers as they arrive at store)
- Assisting with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance
Essential Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required; pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) or state required certification/registration preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in a retail pharmacy environment, preferably in a customer service role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, pharmacists, and other team members
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and operate a cash register
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in a retail pharmacy environment, preferably in a customer service role
- PTCB certification or state required certification/registration
- Experience with pharmacy systems and software
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
