Key Responsibilities
As a Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Associate, your key responsibilities will include:
- Retrieving patient medical records from various Hospital systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Generating and preparing patient itemized bills in appropriate formats for internal and external audits, adhering to regulatory requirements
- Extracting and entering necessary information from/to Hospital patient accounting systems, maintaining data integrity and security
- Making phone calls to Post-Acute Healthcare Facilities to obtain information needed on patients, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Running and creating reports to support data-driven decision-making and analysis
- Assisting with any other information gathering or data entry as needed by the recovery team, showcasing flexibility and adaptability
- Scanning and indexing of documents, ensuring efficient and secure storage and retrieval
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with a focus on healthcare or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience in medical records, data entry, or a related field, with a strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and hospital patient accounting systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and patients
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications would be highly desirable:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as healthcare administration or health information management
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems
- Certification in medical records or health information management, such as RHIT or RHIA
- Experience with data analysis and reporting, using tools such as Excel, SQL, or Tableau
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and hospital patient accounting systems, including Cerner, Epic, or Meditech
