Staff Accountant (1 year- Contract)
About the position Forum Financial Management, LP is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their back-office team. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, month-end close, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, and the preparation of accurate financial statements. This is a one-year contract position with the potential to transition into a permanent role.
Responsibilities
- Perform general cost accounting and maintain the general ledger, including journal entries
- Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
- Assist with the month-end close process, including account analysis and reconciliations
- Conduct periodic budget-to-actual comparisons and investigate basic variances
- Support the implementation of a new GL system by setting up modules, testing functionality and developing training materials for users
- Provide support on quarterly and annual tax filings including preparations of 1099s
- Code and process accounts payable invoices, ensuring expenses are charged to the appropriate accounts
- Manage accounts receivable activities, including invoicing and collections follow-up
- Reconcile bank accounts, cash disbursements, and other routine financial accounts
- Maintain corporate checking accounts and related financial documentation
- Conduct audits to ensure expenses are being properly entered and tracked
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes
- Prepare and maintain payroll records, reports, and reconciliations
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and maintaining organized financial records
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with Excel
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience supporting accounting or back-office operations for an RIA or Broker-Dealer
