Lead Research Scientist - Bioinformatics
Our client is actively searching for an exceptional Lead Research Scientist specializing in Bioinformatics to spearhead innovative projects. You will lead a team of brilliant researchers, directing the development and application of cutting-edge computational methods to analyze complex biological datasets. Your responsibilities will include designing and executing research studies, interpreting genomic and proteomic data, and developing novel algorithms and tools to drive discovery. You will collaborate closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and clinicians to tackle challenging biological questions and contribute to the development of new therapies or diagnostic tools. Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of bioinformaticians and computational biologists. Design and implement bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing large-scale omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics). Develop and validate novel computational algorithms and statistical models. Interpret complex biological data to identify key findings and generate hypotheses. Collaborate with cross-functional research teams to integrate computational insights into experimental designs. Present research findings at scientific conferences and publish in high-impact journals. Manage research projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget. Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and related fields. Contribute to grant writing and secure external funding for research initiatives. Qualifications: PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience in bioinformatics or computational biology. Demonstrated experience in leading research projects and managing scientific teams. Expertise in analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Perl. Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques. Experience with high-performance computing environments and cloud platforms. Excellent communication, presentation, and scientific writing skills. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote research environment.
