Transportation Procurement Professional
Job Description:
- Integrated Sourcing Strategy: Develop and execute global category strategies across the full spectrum of logistics: internal fleet (leasing, M&R, fuel, telematics) and external transport (Parcel, 3PL, LTL/FTL, Ocean, Air, and Last-Mile).
- End-to-End Event Management: Lead complex RFPs/RFQs and supplier evaluations, translating enterprise goals into regional execution plans that deliver year-over-year savings and working-capital benefits.
- Expert Negotiation: Structure and manage diverse commercial agreements, including MSAs, fuel mechanisms, rate structures, SLAs, and liability terms, ensuring all contracts reflect unique operational realities.
- Performance & Relationship Management: Own the supplier lifecycle for both carriers and fleet vendors. Use scorecards and QBRs to drive continuous improvement, standardization, and risk mitigation.
- Market Intelligence: Analyze freight markets and fleet cost drivers (e.g., cost per mile, capacity trends, rate indices). Act as a subject matter expert for leadership on pricing, uptime, and innovation.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Fleet Operations, Finance, IT, and Safety to balance cost, service, and compliance across a global, multi-region network.
Requirements:
- Proven Experience: Extensive procurement and category management experience supporting large-scale, multi-region logistics and commercial private fleets (Fortune 500-level preferred).
- Deep Domain Expertise: Mastery of fleet programs (leasing, maintenance, routing tech) combined with 3PL expertise (parcel, brokerage, intermodal, and international freight).
- Commercial Acumen: Strong negotiation skills with a track record of delivering sustainable, repeatable value. You should have the executive presence to present complex value-realization strategies to senior leadership.
- Technical & Analytical Proficiency: Data-driven mindset familiar with fleet KPIs, DOT considerations, and transportation tools such as TMS, parcel analytics, and freight audit platforms.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (CPSM, CIPS, CSCMP/SCPro) are highly preferred.
