IRB Analyst
Job Description:
- Supports the activities of the Office of Human Subject Protections (OHSP)
- Serves as a liaison between the IRB and research community
- Assists IRB chairs and members in protecting the rights and welfare of human subjects
- Manages and/or conducts the confidential review and approval process of proposed research activities involving human subjects
- Balances the need to assure GU’s compliance with different federal regulations, the need to facilitate research, while also addressing ethical considerations
- Works collaboratively with various offices for compliance or conflicts of interest issues involving human subjects research
- Works well with GU research community members and other ancillary review offices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required in an ethics, scientific, engineering or healthcare administrative discipline required
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience that provided familiarity with research ethics and methodologies
- A minimum of 3 years’ work experience must include: human subjects’ review/oversight; interaction with human subjects as a research staff person; or any position involving the application of complex regulatory systems to individuals and work activities
- Computer proficiency is required, including MS Word, Excel, internet browsers, and email
- Certification as an IRB professional (CIP) is highly preferred.
