Lead AI Research Scientist - NLP
Our client, a cutting-edge research and development firm, is seeking a brilliant Lead AI Research Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join their innovative team in Washington, D.C., US . This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be at the forefront of developing next-generation AI solutions, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in understanding and generating human language. The ideal candidate possesses a deep theoretical understanding of AI and machine learning, combined with practical experience in implementing and deploying advanced NLP models. You will lead research initiatives, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate with engineering teams to translate research breakthroughs into tangible products and services. Responsibilities: Lead and conduct cutting-edge research in Natural Language Processing, including areas such as language modeling, sentiment analysis, machine translation, question answering, and text generation. Design, develop, and implement novel AI algorithms and machine learning models to solve complex NLP challenges. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and NLP research by reading academic papers, attending conferences, and engaging with the research community. Mentor and guide a team of AI researchers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment. Collaborate with product managers and software engineers to integrate AI models into production systems and applications. Publish research findings in top-tier academic journals and present at leading AI conferences. Develop and maintain high-quality, well-documented code for research prototypes and production systems. Design and execute experiments to evaluate the performance of AI models and algorithms. Contribute to the strategic direction of the company's AI research roadmap. Secure and manage research grants and funding opportunities. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Linguistics, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of research experience in AI/ML, with a strong focus on NLP. Demonstrated track record of publications in leading NLP and AI conferences and journals (e.g., ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML). Expertise in programming languages such as Python, and familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch). Proven experience in developing and deploying large-scale NLP models. Strong understanding of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and deep learning architectures. Excellent leadership, mentorship, and team collaboration skills. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
