Cybersecurity Intern – Cloud & AI Security (Healthcare)

Our AI products work with protected health information (PHI), which means security and HIPAA-aligned controls are core to everything we ship. We operate on Google Cloud and serve clinics across the United States.
About the Role
We are looking for a Cybersecurity Intern to join our engineering team and contribute to securing our cloud infrastructure, secrets management, and AI workloads. This is hands-on work — you will partner with our engineers on real projects that strengthen our security posture, with mentorship and clear deliverables. You will gain practical experience in cloud security, healthcare compliance, and AI/LLM security — areas with strong demand in the current job market.
What You Will Do
- Audit and apply restrictions to API keys across our Google Cloud projects
- Assist with secrets scanning across our code repositories using industry-standard tools
- Help configure cloud cost monitoring and budget controls to detect usage anomalies
- Review IAM roles and apply least-privilege access principles
- Support HIPAA-aligned controls including audit logging and access reviews
- Document security runbooks, playbooks, and incident response procedures
- Triage findings from automated vulnerability scans
- Research threat models for LLM-based applications (prompt injection, model abuse)
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in
Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Foundational understanding of information security and application security concepts
- Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform (Google Cloud, AWS, or
Azure)
- Comfort with Git, command-line tools, and basic scripting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed work style suitable for a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or projects involving cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Awareness of HIPAA Security Rule fundamentals or other healthcare compliance
- Familiarity with secrets-scanning tools such as gitleaks, TruffleHog, or
GitGuardian
- Interest in AI and LLM security, including OWASP LLM Top 10
- Exposure to compliance automation platforms (Vanta, Drata, comp.ai,
Secureframe)
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF or ISO 27001
- Participation in CTF competitions, bug bounties, or open-source security projects
