Job Description: Title: French Adjunct Faculty Unit: DCE Department: Liberal Arts Reports to: Dean of Liberal Arts Date: Fall 2025 Scope of work: Roxbury Community College seeks a dynamic and experienced part-time adjunct French faculty member to teach college-level French courses at the beginning and intermediate levels. The successful candidate will skillfully accommodate first time learners, speakers of non-standard varieties of French and dual enrolled high school students along with college students of varied ages and experience levels in the classroom. The candidate must have experience teaching world languages in a public higher education setting along with a master' degree in applied linguistics or language education; degree-in-progress is acceptable. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for teaching on campus, in person classes with open education resources, and for using our LMS Canvas to share course materials. Responsibilities:

  • Teach college-level French I and French II courses at a predominantly Black institution, valuing African and diasporic influences on students' home languages
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with ACTFL college curriculum standards.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success.
  • Utilize varied instructional methods and technologies to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Communicate with advising, accessibility and dual enrollment support staff regarding students' learning needs. Communicate with our in-house non-academic support staff (Project Access) for issues impeding academic success.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Participate with compensation in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and curriculum development initiatives as required.
