Mechanical Engineer PE
Operate with a high level of autonomy, accountability, and common sense. We are looking for an engineer, not someone waiting for permission from three project managers and a regional vice president. Ideal candidate is looking for ownership, autonomy, and the ability to directly influence the direction of a growing firm.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Mechanical PE of record and provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight for mechanical projects and future staff growth.
- Participate in client meetings and site surveys.
- Design HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, retail, and multi-family projects.
- Help establish mechanical design standards, workflows, and long-term department structure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited University
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain reciprocity in applicable project states
- Comfortable pretending ductwork coordination is more important than arc flash studies
- Experience preparing construction documents, technical specifications, equipment selections, and engineering calculations with a level of organization that survives contractor markups and last-minute architectural revisions
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to guide projects, mentor staff, and explain complex engineering decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with field investigations, site visits, and construction administration
- Ability to survive interdisciplinary debates over whose equipment gets the last remaining square foot
- Ability to maintain perspective and humor in an industry where perfectly coordinated models occasionally meet actual buildings
Benefits
- 100% employer-paid health insurance
- 401(k) with company matching
- Company-paid PE licensure, renewals, and professional organization memberships
- Continuing education and professional development support
- Opportunity to directly shape standards, workflows, culture, and long-term department growth
