Lead Software Engineer - Scala

We enable our customers to build, innovate, and grow, collectively reshaping the e-commerce industry. We seek a Lead Software Engineer (Scala) who wants to own something that matters. Our Pricing Engine is at the heart of how merchants run their businesses on Commerce. It powers how merchants price their products at scale. This isn't a "keep the lights on" role. The Lead Engineer will set technical direction, mentor engineers, partner with their manager and the product manager on the roadmap, and build APIs that handle ever-increasing volume while keeping quality front and center. What You’ll Do: - Maintain and improve services that power Commerce’s Pricing Engine. - Fix bugs and build features to enhance the Pricing Engine. - Build and maintain pricing-related APIs (REST and GRPC). - Write end-to-end tests to validate pricing behaviors. - Mentor and help engineers become more productive by removing blockers. - Drive the technical vision for the Pricing Engine. - Produce technical documentation of workflows related to the Pricing Domain - Work closely with product managers and other engineers to gather requirements and develop the team’s roadmap. Who You Are: - 7+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer - Experience developing in Scala, PHP a plus - Able to dive in quickly learn a new domain - Attention to detail - Familiarity with creating end-to-end test suites. We use Playwright with TypeScript. - Experience with evolving/scaling high throughput applications - Able to lead the team in project discovery, design, and implementation - Desire to work in a collaborative, open environment on an Agile team as a contributor and mentor - Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience #LI-LH1 #LI-Remote (Pay range transparency $139,000 - $234,000)

Compensation

Transparency The national base salary range for this role is posted above in this job post. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications and geographic location. We also consider internal equity to help ensure fair and consistent pay practices across our teams. Where applicable, this role may also be eligible for variable compensation (such as bonus or commission), equity, and benefits in accordance with local policies.
